Just started my own blog dsc related as it's this mode that gives me most satisfaction after loosing inerest in The tx'ing/monitoring of the Ham scene, which has all but given over to ft8 anyway. I'm quite happy SWL'ing now, basically appeasing my wallet that kept complaing about replacing failed equipment lol. Anyway I was never one to make small talk on air, nor be part of the 5-9 brigade, so I did the rounds with monitoring utility data and found dsc keeps my interest the most, inso far as it satisfies my DX chasing as it were, and allows me to view the results on a map (bit like psk reporter I guess) and also lets me view further info on my spot via Marine Traffic etc. I didn't see it mentioned here, so wonder if you know about yadd2map software. This is what I use for my screenshots. I don't want to waffle on here so I'll say cheers for now Steve, and good dx 73 my friend. If it's used at all, it must be on VHF/UHF sat links as it sure isn't on HF anymore. I spent hundreds of hours listening to AMVER messages as they contained everything one would need to know about the ship...good times.

Steve 73Steve McDonaldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06229640265009249231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3380839830287420877.post-78420608906868591562017-08-10T18:12:25.876-07:002017-08-10T18:12:25.876-07:00So whatever happened to AMVER?

I found a PDF manual that mentions what to do with a distress DSC message, i.e. call the RCC! But other than that, AMVER.com doesn't say much about DSC.

Wonder if all that DSC data is shared with AMVER?

- Dan VE7DESAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3380839830287420877.post-6002012615586196382017-08-09T10:06:02.818-07:002017-08-09T10:06:02.818-07:00Very good article Steve , Thank you for your infor...Very good article Steve , Thank you for your information. The Greek fleet is the first in the world. I live on the island of Samos in the Eastern Aegean and I have several friends of sailors. Soon I will try it.
